Atlanta Business Chronicle names Billy Milam top two finalist in Most Admired CEO in Professional Services category

The 2020 winner will be named in a virtual ceremony on December 10

(ATLANTA) Oct. 23, 2020 – Hire Dynamics CEO Billy Milam was named one of two finalists for “Most Admired CEO” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. These annual awards recognize local leaders who show exceptionally strong vision for their companies, commitment to workplace culture and support for the community.Billy Milam

“I couldn’t have asked for a better person to have at the helm as we’ve faced the challenges of the past year,” said COO and Co-Founder Jon Neff. “Billy’s decisive leadership, warmth and human touch, and ability to lead the organization to thrive despite historic economic upheaval, is invaluable.”

From his first day as CEO, Billy led the acquisition and integration of Trace Staffing Solutions, a massive transition enlarging the company by 30%. The leadership team shepherded the onboarding of all new employees onto the HD recruiting platform, integration of all business systems including accounting and payments, all while sustaining the company’s dynamic workplace culture.

COVID strikes

Just as this sizable effort neared completion, COVID-19 struck, making business as usual impossible. Billy and the leadership team led the immediate temporary shift to remote work across more than 46 locations. A company known for its personal approach to job placements through face-to-face client and talent interactions, Hire Dynamics quickly navigated to virtual interviewing and other remote processes.

Billy and team’s proactive response to the initial dramatic loss in income quickly pivoted to meet a wave of demand for essential workers of many kinds. Orders had to be filled and HD committed to do that. The leadership team took bold action early, introducing limited furloughs and a temporary wage rollback across all roles with confidence and transparency.

These decisive actions to combat the COVID-19 impact enabled staff to move forward with confidence, reducing fear and uncertainty, and allowing greater focus and strong results. Throughout the spring, as competitors furloughed their sales staff, HD increased its sales staff and continued selling throughout the slowdown. By late summer, coming out of the downturn, HD nearly doubled talent placed in jobs and now sits at 81% more talent working than at the lowest point in April.

Weathering the storm

Today, HD has weathered this year of historic turbulence with remarkable success. Gross profit is now 100% higher than at the lowest point in April. The expanded company ranks in the top three staffing companies in the Southeast. The company puts nearly 11,000 people to work every day.

In one of his Five for Friday messages Billy said, “We are a family, we are united, we have each other’s back, we are locked arm in arm, we are united as One HD.” His dedication to each employee’s personal and professional development is distinctive and rare.

Jon Neff said, “You can’t find anyone more relatable than Billy. When a company triples in size within three years, there’s a significant risk of culture erosion. But I’d argue that our culture has never been stronger, because of Billy’s leadership during this time of uncertainty. Regular, clear communication and transparency help all team members feel in-the-know and valued.”

The Most Admired CEO Virtual Awards Celebration will take place Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
