Terri Craft: A demonstrated leader shines during a turbulent pandemic era

CATEGORY: Blog

For the last decade, Terri Craft has made a name for herself as a true leader within Hire Dynamics and her community. As Director of Business Development for the Hire Dynamics Charlotte office, she makes a difference to clients’ business strategies and changes the lives of the talent she places in jobs. She specializes in warehouse, manufacturing, office and call center positions ranging from general labor to supervisors and VPs.

Terri makes it a priority to know and understand each company’s business, challenges, goals and hiring requirements. She applies that in-depth understanding to find the best talent for those needs. Her ability to make these connections is key to her success.

“She has a passion for life and high energy,” said Hire Dynamics EVP Kim Wallace. “It’s why people love her. She truly cares about people, and this is the right industry for that. She gets to solve talent’s job needs and help business clients determine their people strategy.”

Terri has been a pioneer in opening offices in both North Carolina and South Carolina and was a part of the initial team that opened the Charlotte office. Since then, she has helped grow revenue and reach each year and has been one of the top three sellers companywide for the last seven consecutive years.

In 2020 alone, she billed more than $2 million, a phenomenal accomplishment given the challenges the year brought. In that time, she also gained 23 new clients, bringing in an additional $630,000 in gross profit.

Overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic

As the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March 2020, the job market was drastically altered. Terri adjusted schedules and helped lead the Charlotte team’s shift to remote work, which posed a challenge for a group known for their personal touch in job placements through face-to-face client interactions.

This shift successfully positioned the team to meet a wave of demand for essential workers that sprung up in many areas, including manufacturing and e-commerce fulfillment generated by the changing consumer shopping habits. As staffing competitors in Charlotte furloughed their sales staff, Terri’s team impressively grew.

Terri put her relationship skills to work and spoke with hiring managers at companies across the Charlotte area about their shifting needs. She helped clients by providing current market data so they could better plan their employee strategy. She listened and urged job seekers to consider new types of job placements in the industries that were hiring. Terri worked personally with talent, guiding them to evaluate their abilities and helping them find free or low-cost online learning opportunities to develop new skills.

In early October 2020, Hire Dynamics held its first-ever companywide HirePalooza. In Charlotte, Terri helped use this opportunity to make connections in the community to get the word out to companies and talent alike. Her efforts allowed the Charlotte team to assist over 1,200 candidates to find jobs.

Terri also led her branch, clients and talent to increase usage of the Work4HD app for contactless interactions as job seekers search for jobs, review and accept job offers, view paystubs and get directions to a job site.

Terri exemplifies the Hire Dynamics spirit and dedication to client needs that Hire Dynamics’ Charlotte Regional Manager Kyle Feeney noted. “The Charlotte team has faced incredible adversity during 2020 and their inspiring resilience has shown through,” he said.

Leader in the community

Going beyond the workplace, Terri consistently makes it a priority to give back to her community. She has channeled her significant administrative skills and energy into supporting food drives, gathering clothes for women’s shelters and serving for 11 years as president of Women’s Ministry for Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In addition, she is a leader in the HD Charlotte’s work with Junior Achievement and serves on the Diversity and Inclusion team.
