Description

The Valve Technician is responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly of steam turbine valves in conformance with the Company’s requirements for safety, cost, schedule, and quality. (Pay based on experience $18-$21)

1. Calculate dimensions or tolerances of work pieces, products, or equipment, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.

2. Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.

3. Operate cutting/grinding equipment.

4. Dismantle, inspect, and assemble machinery and equipment using: hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, and/or dial indicators.

5. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

6. Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.

7. Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools.

8. Operate welding equipment. (TIG & MIG)

Job Requirements

• Perform preventive and emergency maintenance/repair of machines and equipment as instructed by Supervisor. Ensure that all maintenance activities are documented on the appropriate maintenance log.
• Interface with Supervisor and/or Project Engineering to understand all aspects of the project (technical, scheduling, extra work, cost, etc.). Coordinate with Project Engineering and Supervisor to ensure schedule conformance and identify bottlenecks.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
